Racism is a choice of convenience
Racism is a choice by the privileged to maintain the interest of the privileged. There are some moral considerations so some give and take is allowed but the give is only not to tarnish an image and the take is always holding on to privilege and power - the absolute non-negotiables of racism.

Benefits of Racism
An important aspect in the racism conversation must be analyzing the benefits of racism. Racism must provide some tangible benefits to survive and even to thrive. There are economic benefits to racism. There are power benefits to implementing racist policies.

Leadership
Chicago youth asked what do you want to be when you finish high school, answered, "Alive."
Gandhi had it right when he told the Congress they were talking, talking, talking to each other while the poor were totally disregarded.
In Chicago and in Washington the talk is talking and talking while the youth are dying in Chicago, Detroit, Iraq, and Afganistan.
our leaders have more in common with leaders around the world than with Gandhi.

A Simple Anti-Racist Strategy
A simple anti-racist strategy is to call it whenever you see it.
It is easier said than done but this is how it works. You hear a racist joke or comment. You evaluate it as racist through one of the racist identification techniques you have acquired through a workshop, a course or reading a book. You then simply state the racism you have identified by saying, "That is racist because ...." Nothing more is required. The perpetrator will of course deny it and even challenge you but you have exercised your anti-racist technique already. Be prepared to lose friends and anger people.

Anti-Racist Strategies
Once the racist strategies are identified and understood a new set of counter racist strategies must be developed. Anti-racist strategies are techniques and behaviors that oppose racism. These are the learnings that will eventually make an impact on a racist drenched society.

Racist strategies
Racist strategies are those employed by racists to maintain a state of racism. I am collecting a list of these strategies and am observing them in action. Of course the purpose is to build an anti-racism set of strategies. Somme of the anti-racism strategies are to counter these racism strategies but some are simply to break the hold that racism has on modern society.
Structural racism is fully embedded in western lifestyles they are difficult to detect and even more difficult to eradicate.

Need for racism language
We need a racism language. We need to be able to define words and phrases that can be used in a discussion and analysis of racism. What has happened is that the words and expressions have been flogged the meaning out of them. I hear people calling a Hispanic nominee for the Supreme Court a racist by a white ex-politician and I wonder what the world is coming to. Of course this is a common occurrence that the racist calls the anti-racist a racist. And the interesting aspect of this kind of argument or rhetoric is that the racist audience licks it up. So the anti-racist is confused. The definitions have been diverted to petty name calling and have lost intrinsic meaning.

Anti-Racist Actions
Many years ago I wrote a booklet based on a presentation I made discussing ant-racist actions. In the process I discussed racism supporting actions. When you have a list of criteria for such actions it becomes easy to define a specific action as being one or the other.
i would suggest that those who are interested in combatting racism spend the time to identify these criteria for themselves and then analyze options based on these criteria. This will form a start strategy for combatting racism one person at a time.
